Ninja Camp
This super-fun day camp is designed to provide safe, nuturing environment for kids all summer long.  This affordable camp will be educational & physical with organized sports and games, arts and crafts, fun science projects, field trips and much more.  Each week we pick a theme and organize our activities around that theme.
WHO:   Ages 7 to 13

How to make a Zombie Movie
A two-week course introducing young students to the world of film making through a focus on a classic horror film motif. The kids will have the opportunity to develop their own story,
learn how to film it, and act as the cast and crew of the production. By the end of the course, the students will walk away with an understanding
of film making and a short film of their own design, moderated and polished by industry professionals.
Sessions are Monday – Friday (each session is two weeks) from approximately 3:00pm – 6:00pm (some days may be longer depending on filming times). At The Funhouse.

Cardboard Camp
Nationally recognized artist and illustrator Brook Meinhardt leads this exciting hands-on day camp.  Kids will construct a variety of projects out of this ordinary but versatile material including sculptures, self portraits and other 3-D creations.
WHO:  Ages 10 to 13.
WHEN:  July 8 -12.

Music Classes with Armando Nunes
Musical Instruments 101
Learn the basics of guitars, basses, drums, amplifiers, microphones, mixing boards and speakers and how they all work together. Answer questions like, “Why am I getting this buzzing sound from my guitar?” and “When I plug in my microphone, I get high-pitched feedback!” PERFECT FOR BEGINNERS.

Guitar & Bass Maintenance
Learn how to properly choose and change strings, adjust action, set your pickup and bridge height and maintain the quality of your electric and acoustic guitars and basses. Set it up to play better for your style. Bring your own instrument to work on, or we will provide one for you.

Home Recording 101
Learn the basics of recording at home, including equipment choices, microphone placement, gain levels, sound dampening and basic mixing and exporting of your recording with Garageband. All of the information in this class will be useful for any recording format or platform.

Live Sound 101
Learn the basics of amplifying a person or band for a live presentation, including how to use a mixing board, microphone choices and placement, proper speaker usage, cable options and working on-the-fly. A performance by live band will be used for the lesson.

F.E.A.S.T.
F.E.A.S.T. is a summer-long adventure that will ultimately provide you with a broad knowledge base and skill set, allowing you to be part of the growing sustainability and agrarian movements, both in this country and abroad. No matter what you plan to do after high school, F.E.A.S.T. will give you a unique perspective on the world and our place in it, a foundation of understanding that will empower you to participate wisely and responsibly in whatever pursuits you choose. The topics we study in the program and the people we meet will help us to realize our importance as individuals and define a sense of purpose in this wild world. Above all else, F.E.A.S.T. is going to be a lot of FUN!

Video Production – Rock Island Media Style!

Have you ever wondered how commercials are made? Now’s your chance to learn the fundamentals about the equipment and skills that are needed to produce professional-quality videos. Led by the Rock Island Media team, this introductory class will focus on producing a short promotional video for the Orcas Island Chamber of Commerce. We’ll discuss the entire process; from pre-production to the final result. Participants will meet once a week for “class” at the Funhouse, and also have the opportunity to venture out on shoots (dates/times TBD). Only $15 a class.
